Everything here lives under Settings › your choir › Members, except invite links, which are under Join codes.
Voice parts
Set the choir’s voice parts first, under Edit details. Until you do, the choir page shows Voice parts: None set and there is nothing to assign anyone.
Then set each singer’s part from the Members list. Members cannot choose their own part. This is deliberate, and it’s the single most common thing new directors are asked about. A singer whose part is unset can’t get per-part playback levels and won’t be matched to the right recordings.

Section leads rank below directors: they can approve recordings for their own section, but they can’t change the choir’s settings or features.
You can’t change your own role, so a choir always keeps at least one person who can administer it.
Invite links and join codes
Under Join codes you can share a link, show a QR code, or hand out the choir’s join code.
When you create an invite link you can set:
- an expiry: after which the link stops working;
- a maximum number of uses: useful when you know you’re expecting four new altos;
- the role it grants: including section lead, so you can invite somebody straight into the job.
Links that never expire have a way of ending up in places you didn’t intend, so a season-length expiry is a sensible default.
There’s a separate switch under Features for whether ordinary members can view and share the join code. Turn it off and only the director and section leaders can see it, which is what you want if every new singer should come through you.
Regenerating a link invalidates the old one. Anybody mid-signup with the old link will need the new one.
Removing somebody
Removing a member takes away their access to the choir’s songs, events and messages.
Their own recordings stay with them. Removal is not a way to delete somebody’s audio. If that’s what you need, ask them, or write to us.
This is the opposite of what happens when a member chooses to leave: leaving deletes the recordings they made in that choir. Worth knowing before you promise anyone either outcome.
Archiving or deleting the whole choir
At the bottom of the choir’s page:
- Archive hides the choir from its members and can be undone. This is what you want for a choir between seasons.
- Delete is permanent and removes everything in the choir.
