I can’t sign in
There is no password to reset. Choirside doesn’t have passwords. If you’re looking for a password field, you won’t find one, and nothing is broken. See signing in for how it actually works.
The usual causes, in order of likelihood:
- The code hasn’t arrived. Check your spam folder. Give it two minutes before requesting another, and remember that requesting a new code kills the old one, so don’t type the first one afterwards.
- The code expired. “That sign-in expired. Request a new code.” means exactly that. Tap Resend code.
- Wrong email address. Your choir invited a specific address, and that’s the one that works. Your director can look up which one they used.
- A passkey that won’t offer itself. A passkey marked This device only doesn’t exist on your other devices. Sign in with an emailed code instead, and add a passkey there too.
A tab is missing from the app
Library and Settings are always there. Messages, Calendar and Attendance appear only if your choir has that feature switched on, and new choirs start with the calendar and attendance off.
So a missing Calendar tab almost always means your director hasn’t turned the calendar on, not that the app is broken. Ask them.
A track won’t play
- Check your connection. A song you’ve never opened has to download before it plays.
- Force a refresh by pulling down on the library.
- Check your device storage. A full device can’t cache audio.
Tracks you’ve already played are kept on your device and work without a signal. Ones you haven’t opened yet aren’t there, so if you’re about to lose signal, play through what you need first.
A song or backing track has vanished
Directors can delete backing tracks, and deleting one removes it for everybody in the choir. If a track you were using is gone, it was probably removed on purpose, so ask your director before assuming a fault.
Deletions show up when your app next refreshes rather than instantly, so pull down to refresh before reporting it.
My recording sounds wrong
- Out of sync with the accompaniment: you were probably recording on the speaker rather than through headphones, or your Bluetooth headphones dropped out mid-take. The app warns you with “The audio output changed while recording” when it notices.
- Distorted or clipped: you were too close to the microphone. The app shows “Too loud: back off the mic” while it’s happening. A clipped take can’t be fixed afterwards, so record it again.
- No sound at all: check that the microphone permission was granted. Recording can’t work without it, and if you declined the first time you’ll need to grant it in your phone’s own settings, not in Choirside.
See recording your part for how to get a clean take.
I recorded something and nobody can see it
That’s usually correct behavior rather than a fault:
- Practice takes are private. Other members never see them. Your director does.
- Sectional tracks wait to be published. If you saw “Sectional track submitted for approval”, it’s sitting with your director or section leader.
- Your choir may require director approval for all new takes, as a setting.
My voice part is wrong or missing
Your director sets it, you can’t. Ask your director or your section leader; it’s a few seconds’ work for them.
The Attendance tab is empty
The member-facing attendance screen isn’t built yet. The tab and the settings behind it are real, but there’s nothing to show singers there for now.
